Wayward Travelers

The Cult of Vecna

Current Party:

Joice Joane
The Handler

The next morning brought light rain and the Tournament of Feats. Freywalt, armed with his Oathbow, leads the party to the Upper District. With nicer establishments comes higher security, and only Freywalt is on the list. A few highly successful deceptions and Prestidigitations fixes this very quickly, and the friends all see the glory of the Tournament Building. Freywalt leaves us to prepare for the competition, and Warryn asks for directions toward seating. Each area is marked with marble statues depicting the event held in the area, and everyone is directed to the archery fields. A betting table is set up amongst the concessions, and Freywalt is not poised to perform well against his mysterious competitor, whose name is not on the ballot. Aghast, the group begins betting extraordinarily high, in favor of Freywalt of course. People begin staring, then joining in, and soon enough both scales are overflowing, and the teller closes up shop for the event to begin.

Concerned about foul play, Davdak and Tempest decide to get seats as close as possible to the competitors while the rest move up to the third tier to keep an eye on the crowds. The duo disguises Tempest as an Elf to keep his identity hidden and use Davdak’s naïveté to woo a pair of floor seats from Upper Class elves.

Gore sees hooded figs and attacks, falls

Freywalt wins!

We all escape, intimidate our earnings from the vendor

Bring an unconscious member home-Cult of Vecna.

-chapter end, session continue-

Milk for info about Vecna, Liam intimidates so hard the man gives info and is instantly killed (by Vecna?): looking for Elwin. ……..Freywalt’s sister!

We know she’s in the city… Wait where’s the dog? Find in the kitchen. Gore speaks to animal, only remembers some time, something seems off. We are pretty sure she’s Elyn, need to transform her back: Mage School in upper town.

Convince guards to let us back in because of the Tournament Pass we still have. Rgalize the best place to go is still higher up, where the Royalty lives. Liam goes to retrieve the missing princess while we shop for magic items. Sybil’s part II.

Go to palace, Warryn convinces them to let us in quietly, without fanfare for the princess.

Enter the Raven Queen; All that glitters

Bullshit bullshit bullshit then Raven Queen arrives.
They see horrors.
They are released?
They continue exploring, but are teleported.
Find a room, Gore break the floor, returns to entrance!?! (Holy shit thisa session was long)

As Liam is lowered through the floor, he hears a faint, familiar melody whistling through the cavern. Turning, Liam recognizes the entrance to the Tomb in one direction, and the doorway he and his companions had taken another way. Somehow, the rooms he, Gore, and Tempest had been teleported to were located above the entrance rooms of the Tomb! Liam calls to the duo sitting outside, securing his rope to the rocky ground so the three could climb up. Davdak has some trouble with this task, but eventually the task is complete.

While he rests from the overexertion, he hears Liam mutter. “The lights have changed.” Davdak and Warryn exchange confused glances, until they are relayed the key points of the Tomb’s exploration, including the Aspect of the Raven Queen and their new Book of Many Things. Liam believes the lighting change is due to the loss of the Raven Queen’s influence over the area.

Exit room, find trapped area, solve puzzle, find the OATHBOW, then escape back down the rope and out of the cavern.

Chased by werewolves, find some treasure, free a horse, hide in a house.

GOLDEN ANCIENt dragon appears. We talk to it, because of Tempest’s brazenness. We heal its wounds and learn of many villains in the area.

Liam and Gore retrieve women hiding in cabin: two elves. One of royal birth, and one her handler. Both kidnapped/exiled.

We are told to go to a castle in the north, to destroy the thing that’s letting werewolves change during the daytime, to prove our loyalties to the just actions.

It flies away, we return to Fandolin, there is much feasting and partying by Freywalt. Revisham returns, somehow, and more rejoicing! The competition is tomorrow, and he will earn back his title.

New Friends

While our heroes mull over Freywalt’s proposition, they are approached by a boisterous White Dragonborn in entertainer’s clothing and a quiet but observant Deep Gnome. The former introduces himself boldly as Davdak, of the Kerrhylon Clan, a Bard by trade and training, and his companion was Warryn Brightwood, a Warlock of the Light. They both are surprised to find others who were teleported as well, and offer their assistance with Freywalt’s request. Despite Davdak’s butting heads with all three of the group, Freywalt seems entertained, and accepts.

Did Freywalt give his sad story here? I forget. I think he did tho.

Also gore chasing the mysterious figure with the Dog happens here.

Shopping and leaving and arriving. Davdak and Warryn agree to watch the entrance to the Tomb while Gore, Liam, and Tempest begin the search for the Bow.

The Adventure Begins

“I need you. We need you.”

With these words ringing through space and time, three creatures land in an unknown forest: Gore the Tigerbanner, a gruff half-Orc Barbarian; Liam Blackthorne, a dark-skinned Human Rogue, in every sense of the word “Rogue”; and Tempest, a charismatic Tiefling Sorcerer. The three quickly realize they are far from home, and reluctantly agree to work together to find some civilization, or at least a safe place to rest.

Using their skills of tracking, cunning, and conversation, they come upon an elven campsite. Warned of the many dangerous creatures hiding in the woods (read: Dinosaurs), the three are granted passage to their home of Fandolin, by grace of their leader.

Upon arrival, the three are struck by the enormity of Fandolin: a giant tree in the forest, many stories tall, with bridges and levels of living. They are led to the guest district, the lowest level of the glorious dwelling. They approach a tavern, where a monster is thrown out the front door by a handsome human. The human introduces himself as Freywalt Rove, and he invites the three to dine with him and listen to his plea.

Freywalt was once a master bowman, and he tells the group of his dream of owning a tavern of his own, but the townspeople mock him after his stunning defeat by a mysterious opponent. He believes that the legendary Oathbow, rumored to be hidden within the Tomb of the Veiled Lunatic, would give him the edge he needs to win in this year’s challenge. The three pause to consider his proposition by way of drinking.
